What Really Works in North Louisiana
We had an opportunity to take a dive and look inside one of the best restaurants in Shreveport – Bossier. Businesses are run by people and require a lot of sacrifice until they find success. The story of Ki’Mexico is one of hardship and sacrifice. Starting with a clear vision of what they wanted to have many years ago, and working day in and day out, creating a following, trying many things, testing their flavors and zeroing in on what customers really wanted from a restaurant.
And so we identify 3 areas where they have succeeded amongst many. Areas that if possible, a business directed to consumers in North Louisiana should consider emulating.
The Concept is CLEAR
It is clear for those who visit today that Ki’Mexico is a unique place. Its very eclectic and rustic décor, the informal and yet very easy way to identify the people who work there, the dining room full of noise from conversation and open kitchen magic happening, incredible consistency in the food and flavors, the bar without TV’s seeking to distract the patrons from others around them and their approach to music, always in background (a not so subtle call to the heritage) and yet live music tailored for the crowd that attends. They have today what they envisioned from the beginning…
Their Evolution CONTINUES
The idea that you have found a hit product is very attractive and you should definitely capitalize on having such, but you have to remember customers will always want something new. Ki’ Mexico has found many ways to refresh what they offer. Besides their regular menu, with some exclusive offerings for the weekend, they have also leaned in creating something new every week, a soup, a weekend special, Ramen Tuesdays, Hamburger Wednesday and Birria Thursdays are excellent outlets for their creative side to attract people on a consistent basis. And they continue innovating.
They work well as a TEAM
Getting your food as expected, consistently good, is only possible when people work well together. This requires everyone having a sense of ownership, they care for their customers and they help each other to make sure the order and the service meets the customers expectations. They have done well in selecting and “curating” their service personnel. The owners are sensitive to whichever situation arises that needs their attention, they coordinate what each and everyone does to make sure the results are on par and the magic happens.
These are just a few of the thinks that work well here, they may work well in other places but as far as we can tell, they have propelled this particular business to a level of success few people achieve in this region. It is just not enough to be good, greatness requires continuous innovation and a commitment to customer focus that drives evolution.
